Porsche is currently working on the highly anticipated replacement for the Carrera GT. The Carrera GT production was halted back in early May after 1,250 were produced. The replacement which at the moment is known as the GT1 is expected to be able to out perform the Bugatti Veyron. The GT1 is expected to be available in 2009 and pack a Twin-Turbo V10 able to produce 950 HP with a top speed of 254 mph.
From Jalopnik.
Right.I heard that it’s actually going to produce around 967 hp and a non rev-hindered top speed of 277mph.But then,it could just be hearsay.
Sorry to burst your bubble, BUT, there are no plans currently to even conduct a feasability study let alone produce a “replacement” for the Carrera GT. The Panamera will take up all of the development budget for the forseeable future, thereafter the all new Cayenne. Historically, Porsche produce a limited edition special vehicle once every 15-20yrs, the predecessor’s to the CGT being the Porsche 959 in 1985 and Porsche 911 2.7 RS in 1973.
I thought they were bulding the mirage GT? There’s one on sale in Dubai right now as a prototype or something.
