A complete ban on the sale of Fois Gras will come into effect on August 22 in the city of Chicago Until the ban does come into effect Chicago restaurants have created menus featuring fois gras in all possible forms, such as searing it, chilling it and even turning it into a sauce. Many people are even trying to fight the ban by organizing lobby groups such as the Chicago Chefs for Choice lobby group founded by Didier Durand owner and chef of the Cyrano Bistro.

why is there going to be a ban?
Because members of the CIty council feel that the way the birds are treated before they are slaughtered is inhumane. Usually the birds are kept in tiny stalls and forcefed with a special diet that causes their livers to become enlarged
Chef’s will have to act criminal now - you know they will - when they smuggle that Goose Liver in the Back of a Truck!
Only their best clients will get to eat this dish in all it’s forms with the illegal premium attached to.
Or
Just drive out of state or order it off the internet.
this is not about the right to eat to a certain dish, its about the way these poor animals are treated. its horrifying! the less demand for fois gras the better. i’m surprised that people don’t care about the treatment of these birds prior to thier death as long as they get thier “fois fix”.
Y.M, cause its unethical u twat!
There’s still so much violence on the south side of Chicago and the city is concerning itself with foie gras?
jewbu: Why be so insulting calling Y.M a twat? They just asked a very simple question, to which a simple reply would suffice. To people outside of Chicago (and yes, there are millions!) it was not made obvious asto why the decision was made. Perhaps if it was in the article, then we would not be forced to ask.
Lucky: People would start taking what you say a lot more seriously if only you wrote like an adult and not like a preschooler who has no idea of how to run a spellchecker through their post, or how to use proper punctuation (yes, leaving it out can make it read several different ways and only results in confusing the reader).
