We have received our Vertu Constellation and have reviewed it. As with all Vertu phones it comes in an excessively large box. The phone at first feels very heavy even without the battery but as with most things weight signifies quality. This particular model is the satin steel and black leather model, the ceramic keypad version will be available in a few months as well as the gold version. The phone as with all Vertu phones has Vertu’s special bevel keypad system giving it a perfect feel and a sapphire crystal screen. The OS is Nokia’s S40 (which is based on the Symbian Operating System) making it similar to some Nokia phones, however the OS is far superior graphics wise.
More after the jump as well as alot of photos.
As with all Vertu phones it has a concierge key located on the left hand side which once pressed dials the Vertu Concierge button which can arrange for anything from a restaurant reservation to a boat charter. The influence of the design of the phone is aviation as one can tell from the name (Lockheed Constellation) so the themes for the OS match it, there are themes which have rotor blades on it, runways and many different city based themes. The icons on the constellation are also all aviation themed. The weight of the phone is slightly more than the Nokia 8800 but is better balanced. The Constellation is the first Vertu to have a four way scrolling system which makes it alot faster to use. The phone has Bluetooth, GPRS and EDGE making it the perfect phone for keeping in touch on the go. The phone has WorldMate software which allows you to keep track of flights, different time-zones and currency rates. WorldMate software is very easy to use and can be customized to suit your needs. The craftsmanship is also very noticeable as the phone is hand made and is screwed together using miniscule screws.
Overall the phone is of very high quality as with all Vertu phones and has an excellent OS which makes us highly recommend it.
Wow that is so cool, I want one and I want it now.
Man that is sweet it looks so much better than the sirocco
still prefer the ascent, looks much nicer
Hi,
I do not believe there is a “Symbian’s S40″but Symbian OS 9.1, Nokia OS, ISA, Nokia Series 30, 40, 60, 80, 90.
That is hot, it does not look like S40.
Where can I get one?
Does any one know if it is possible to sync it with a mac?
I own a Vertu Signature - the concierge service is run by Ten UK - and despite being adequate for basic things - it falls VERY far off the mark for being to book tables at TOP restaurants - the highest caliber ones…
The Constellation looks nice - though.
s40 = w/ nokia framework for the UI /network-related code/ JVM / etc (but NO Symbian), can run just basic j2me apps
s60/s80/s90 = based on Symbian w/ various Nokia UI/etc. and can run Symbian native code (c++ apps) + has JVM to run j2me apps
For this much money I expect it to be s60 because basically (i’m greatly simplifying here) s60 = s40 + Symbian
Any word on pricing and availability???
I have Vertu Signature? Would anybody buy it?
I’m very interested in this phone but would like to know how good the concierge service is, as that is the main reson for my interest. e.g tables at the Ivy and so on
I was in the Nokia store in New York a week ago and they told me it was $4,000. I almost crapped myself (I’m sure they get that alot).
need more information about vertu and haw to purchase ?
Prefer Signature coz the other too small.
finally a vertu that fits in your pocket, i will definitely be getting one of these, it’s about the same size as the Nokia 8800. The Accent is too fat and the signature too long to make it your everyday phone.
It’s £2250 in Selfridges, London. (£11,000 for the Gold one!)
Conceierge is usually free for the first year with Vertu, then u have to pay…
What a gem. But personally, i think Vertu Signature has more edgy keys, something different and delightful to use.
Yayo, no one cares about which one u think is nicer, twat!
Mr. jewboo please refer from swearing immedeately
I just bought the contellation. price is different from each model. Pink = 8800 SGD to USD is about almost $6000
black is 6700 SGD about $5000… havent use them though. it does look nice.
they have the diamond phone. which cost 130 000 SGD almost 100000 USD
I got a vertu constellation last month. The concierge service has come up trumps in getting me sold out tickets for a gig and a table at the Ivy for the same day (not sure whether I should be v.impressed or just fluky). Anyway it’s a cool phone which seems to be very well made.
the vertu concierge just do the minimal work possible. i called them to arrange a yacht rental for me and they did find some companies but none of the companies had what i was looking for which means vertu just searched online and didn’t ask them whether they had what i was looking for. The concierge for my amex card is much better. Amex always make sure the company they find satisfy what my needs were.
I got the Vertu Constellation a couple of days ago now. I must say I am truly impressed with the looks & build quality. I must add that photo’s simply don’t do this phone justice, as it is certainly on a par with the Ascent in real life. Personally, I was supprised to see how small this phone feels when compared to the Ascent becuase the photo’s online make it seem rather large!
The concierge service is excellent for most requests. I have managed to secure tickets to sold out events and table bookings at exclusive restaurants across Europe. However, I must add that the concierge is not great for the “task” orientated requests.
want to know were i can buy the vertu constellation, gold ,due all the store i have called niemen marcus, tourneou, dont have them
harrods in london. they’d ship it over
Selfridges London have the Gold version in stock at £11,000
i wonder if vertu constellation will come out in gold diamonds same like the VERTU SIGNITURE DIAMOND
In my opinion not sure it will come out with Diamonds as its aimed at a different market and customer, but of course I maybe wrong
It’s been a while since last time I saw it and considering to own it. Finally the very first day of 2007, I got it and I love more than anything. Sure, like you guys said the concierge doesn’t seem working well. But who cares it’s all about look and your damn class.
I bought one lastweek, my friend saw it and wonder what made a cellphoh ne so expensive beside stainless steel coer with leather in the back.
A bit heavy one but it gave you a smooth feel both cool and unslippy in your palm,
5000K is some what much for a Nokia upgraded daily phone, Concierge service is not quite well worked, but it suite you well if you like it and afford one
Hi, is Vertu available around UK anywhere out of London ? Or is it just so exclusive that it’s only distributed in major cities in the world… I’ve heard that Vertu is getting more approachable, you know for the people who don’t get the ‘high art’ idea of exclusive design and positioning. I’m conducting a research on Vertu (integrated marketing communications), so I’d be delighted to actually see the phone or if anyone has good information on the sort of marketing Vertu is doing..just comment.
You can find info where to buy it on:
www.vertu.com
USA : www.tourneau.com
This is the best phone I have ever owned
I bought the gold one. Pretty cool. But the service does not work in South Africa
Hello i would like to buy 6 vertus from you what is the best price that you can offer me?
I went searching for Vertu Signature Diamonds but couldn’t find any among the highend retail stores around Southern California. I’m desperately looking for one in time for our wedding anniversary this September. One day, I was shopping at Nordstrom’s and to my disbelief these supposed exclusive phones are actually there for me to behold; checked on the price and to my astoshishment they cost less than a fraction of what is being advertised by other retailers. Though, I was a little upset about its exclusivity, I grabbed two of these babies for $ 1200.00 each but I’m debating whether I’d keep them or post them on Ebay instead. This handheld device is truely amazing but yet I find it to be ridiculous because of its polarizing price ranges from one store to another.
The Last Real Vertu. Because new Ascent Ti looks like chineese fake mobile phones.
Well done with this, it looks great!
ik zou graag eenprijs van jullie willin groten ger
