Vacheron Constantin are known for their appreciation of traditional craftsmanship and integration of it into their watches. The Lacquer Collection is part of their Métiers d’Art collection which showcases various crafts and techniques. The dials of the watches are made of lacquer applied in the traditional Japanese Maki-e technique done by the Zohiko company. Zohiko was founded in the middle of the seventeenth century and is the official supplier of lacquered objects to the Japanese Imperial Court. The watch uses the 1003 SQ manually wound movement which is visible through the center of the dial. Only twenty of the watches will be made each year each being completely unique.
